Sioux Falls Seminary Announces a Fourth New Faculty Hire

The number of individuals joining the faculty at Sioux Falls Seminary this summer, now totals four. Dr. Susan Reese of Sioux Falls will join the seminary's faculty part time as the Assistant Professor of Spiritual Formation and Vocation.

Reese has most recently been serving as the Interim Dean of Spiritual Formation and Vocation at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. She has also served as an adjunct instructor for Sioux Falls Seminary and as a Faculty Associate for Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Reese has over 20 years experience in higher education serving in positions from admissions counselor to instructor at institutions such as Biola University, the University of Sioux Falls, Bethel College, and Sioux Falls Seminary. She holds a B.A. from the University of Sioux Falls, an M.A.C.O. from Sioux Falls Seminary, and an Ed.D. from the University of South Dakota.

Reese, who will be starting in July 2007, will join Drs. Gary Strickland, Vladimir Kharlamov, and Rhoda Carpenter as one of the newest members of the Sioux Falls Seminary faculty. See the article below from May 17 to learn more about the three other faculty hires.

Three New Members to Join the Faculty at Sioux Falls Seminary

Professor of Pastoral Care and D.Min. Director Hired
We are delighted to announce that the Rev. Dr. Gary Strickland will join our faculty in July as the Professor of Pastoral Care and Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program.

Dr. Strickland comes to us from the pastorate at First Baptist Church in Mauldin, South Carolina, where he has served for sixteen years. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. He and his wife, Stephanie, are the parents of three adult children.

Assistant Professor of Spiritual Theology to Join Faculty
We are also pleased to announce that Dr. Vladimir Kharlamov will join the seminary's faculty this summer as Assistant Professor of Spiritual Theology.

Dr. Kharlamov recently earned his Ph.D. in Theological and Religious Studies from Drew University. He also holds an M.Phil. from Drew University, an M.Div. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an M.A. from Odessa Theological Seminary as well as Bachelor's degrees from Pacific International University and Moscow Medical College. Vladimir and his wife, Ann, are newlyweds.

Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible to Join Faculty
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Rhoda Carpenter will join our faculty as Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible. Rhoda has served as an adjunct faculty member, but will now become a permanent, part-time faculty member in the area of Old Testament.

Rhoda holds three Master's degrees and a Doctor of Ministry from Sioux Falls Seminary. She loves the Bible and the Land, and over the years she has spent significant time studying in Israel at the Jerusalem University College and touring biblical lands. Rhoda is married to Dr. Paul Carpenter, a cardiologist. Their three girls are married, two living in southern California and one in the Boston area.
