Dr. Larry Porter to Join Sioux Falls Seminary’s Growing Faculty

Sioux Falls Seminary is pleased to announce that Dr. Larry Porter, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, is the newest addition to the seminary's faculty. Porter will begin serving as an Associate Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy in July 2008.
Dr. Porter brings a wealth of professional expertise as an experienced therapist and assistant professor in the area of Human Development and Family Studies. Porter relocated to Sioux Falls and joined the staff of Sioux Falls Psychological Services (a counseling center owned and operated by the seminary) in 2007. In his newly appointed role as Associate Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy, Porter will bring his strong faith and counseling experience into the classroom to train those preparing to become marriage and family therapists.
Before relocating to Sioux Falls, Dr. Porter and his family resided in Brookings, SD. There, he was in private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist for over ten years, spent four years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and College of Family and Consumer Sciences at South Dakota State University (SDSU), and served as the university's Instructional Designer in Instructional Design Services at SDSU for six years.
Porter earned a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas; a Master of Science degree in the area of Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Literature from Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington.
