Full-Time Pastor, Inwood, IA

Description

Our Savior’s Lutheran congregation of rural Inwood, Iowa, was established in 1888. After the original building burned to the ground in 1998; the church was rebuilt as handicapped accessible. With less than 100 baptized members, our oldest members are in their nineties, and the youngest is two. We worship Sunday mornings at 9:30 with adult and youth Sunday school and confirmation classes following the services. The worship committee works with the pastor and the congregation to select songs for services. Our worship service features traditional hymns one Sunday with a pianist; the other Sundays of the month we sing contemporary and traditional music shown on overhead screens. Our members have been very involved in leading the services and offering a message in the absence of a pastor, and faithfully visiting the sick, homebound, and nursing home members. Though we are small in numbers we are a very active, mission-motivated congregation with a variety of interests that we support throughout the year. Our church gives to local, regional, and international missions. Our Savior’s is an LCMC church that believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God and we are led by the Holy Spirit in our worship and lives. We support our pastors in their daily walk and offer friendship as we serve a mighty God together. There is an Inwood Ministerial Association that our pastor attends to interact with other local pastors. Some of our pastors join the Fire and Rescue as spiritual support on emergency calls. Inwood has a nursing home with a rotating schedule for pastor-led Sunday services. Living within 30 miles of Sioux Falls offers many opportunities in health care as well as social events. We have the benefits of a small town, plus the convenience of a close larger city.
