NABS First Seminary in Nation to Offer Hybrid Courses Using Tegrity Campus 2.0

February 2, 2007

North American Baptist Seminary (NABS) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the first seminary in the nation to offer hybrid courses using Tegrity Campus 2.0 - making classes more accessible to all of its students.

Beginning January 2007, NABS is offering a select number of courses as hybrids, which can be taken in the traditional classroom setting or through an online format consisting of streaming video, Podcasts, and downloadable presentations. During each hybrid course, Tegrity Campus 2.0 will automatically capture, store, and index classroom instruction. Then, both traditional and online students can quickly recall key moments or replay entire classes online, on their iPods, cell phones or with synchronized digital notes.

"Tegrity will allow us to better serve our current students by enriching the traditional classroom," said Bryce Eben, Director of Enrollment Development, "while at the same time enhancing the options and class experience of online students."

Intermediate Greek, offered January 2-12, became the first hybrid course at the seminary. Five additional courses (Youth Evangelism; Creation, the Spirit, and the Church; Effective Teaching Practicum; Exposition of Pauline Epistles 1-2 Corinthians; and Perspectives on the World Christian Movement) will be using Tegrity Campus 2.0 during the spring semester which began on January 29, 2007.

North American Baptist Seminary plans to offer at least a few courses in the hybrid format each semester with hopes of building upon that number each year.
