Autobiographical Statement

The autobiographical statement is intended to provide the applicant with an opportunity to share with Admissions Committee his/her own personal history of how God worked in the applicants life, especially leading up to the desire to enter vocational ministry. Begin your growth experience at Sioux Falls Seminary now by reflecting on events of your past and by setting goals for your future.  Below are the instructions for completing a personal autobiographical statement depending on the program for which you are applying. You may either complete your statement through the online form below or by e-mailing it to admissions@sfseminary.edu.  STATEMENTS SHOULD BE 1000 WORDS AND TYPED.

Master of Divinity; Master of Arts in Christian Leadership, or Bible and Theology; or Graduate Certificate Applicants:

•Your life experiences along with family/marital influences
•How you committed your life to Christ and significant ways God has worked in your life since then
•Personal and spiritual formation goals you would like to accomplish while attending SFS
•Your sense of calling and vocational goals after seminary


M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy, M.A. in Counseling, and M.Div. Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy Applicants:

•Reasons for wanting to become a marriage and family therapist
•Personal/faith history and how it has led to your decision
•Professional History and how it has led to your decision
•Personal characteristics that will contribute to your being a good family therapist
